Outdoor living on your deck

At Archadeck of Chicagoland, we work with your deck design needs to create the perfect space for your family. Is there someone in your family that wants nothing more than to curl up and soak up some sun while reading a favorite book? Do you love to regularly entertain friends or feed noisy kids outside? Do you want a deck that can accommodate different activities at the same time? Let us know and we will design your deck to fit your needs.

Making being a deck owner even easier

While wood decks are still very popular, the popularity of composite decks meets the desire for homeowners to have low-maintenance outdoor spaces. Using synthetic decking such as TimberTech or AZEK, we build decks with low maintenance materials that are warrantied to last 25 years or longer. A number of years ago, the thought that eliminating painting and staining seemed like a dream. Now it’s a reality. With a composite deck, you never have to paint or stain. The color will look the same in 10 years or 20 years as it does when originally built. The manufacturer’s warranty it.

Sorting out and making sense of the composite and synthetic options

Not long after composite decking entered the outdoor building market, leading companies began researching how to improve the quality of low maintenance decking, making it more durable and attractive. Composite deck boards include a mixture of resin and wood fibers. A new synthetic board has entered the market – PVC. This board is ultra-strong and even provides protection from fading and staining. As you can imagine, it also comes with a higher price for the additional performance. If you’ve ever wished you could have the perfect combination of 2 great choices, now you can. A great new product includes a composite core with a PVC cap/wrap as the shell. This board, called capstock, is nicely priced as a mid-level option.

Which low maintenance decking product is right for you? There are a number of factors that will help us determine the best recommendation for your space. We will look at how often you plan on using your deck, how much direct sunlight your deck receives, and other factors.

Unique shapes for unique homeowners

Throughout the Chicagoland market, every deck is one-of-a-kind. We are a custom design and build firm. We take deck design seriously. Every home has a different configuration. Every yard accommodates different options depending on the footprint, landscaping and any setback requirements. After taking into account your village’s restrictions and requirements, the real fun begins. Do you want an extended octagonal area tucked to the side for a cozy eating space? Do you want a cooking and grilling area utilizing a “bump out” to ensure no space is taken from the general deck area? For aesthetic value, do you prefer angled edges? We show each client pictures of hundreds of decks we’ve built in the Chicago-area market so you can see different options before making your selection.

Building and installing your favorite outdoor living accessories

At Archadeck of Chicagoland, we can build different elements into your deck. Your deck can include benches around one or multiple sides. Built-in benches increase your seating capacity and can help you maximize your space usage. Some additional built-in accessories can include planters or privacy fences. Another great option is a built-in bar.

Does the deck stand alone?

Many of our homeowners add a covered area to their deck. This can include an open porch partially covering some of the deck area. This allows you to enjoy some protection from hot sunny days and protection from some other elements including rain. A pergola is another very popular structure we can build in conjunction with your deck. Pergolas add tremendous aesthetic appeal and also provide some measure of sun protection.
